What is A Wizard's Lizard?
A Wizard's Lizard is an open source 2D platform video game in which the player takes control of a small lizard companion of a wizard. The goal is to traverse various levels filled with monsters, obstacles, and puzzles to reach the exit portal.
With bright pixel graphics and chiptune soundtrack, A Wizard's Lizard aims to evoke a nostalgic feeling reminiscent of classic platformers from the 80s and 90s. Gameplay centers around running, jumping, and using various power-ups and wizard spells to overcome environmental hurdles and defeat enemies.
Each level presents new platforming challenges, enemies, and collectible items to discover. Power-ups grant abilities like double jumps and projectile spells, while collectibles unlock extras like artwork and music. There is an emphasis on precision movement and quick reflexes as later levels introduce tricky jumps over lethal hazards.
Originally created for the 2013 Indie Game Maker Competition, A Wizard's Lizard went on to receive additional content and polish for its Steam release in 2016.
