As a developer who spends 90% of my day in the terminal, Alacritty has been a game-changer. The hardware acceleration makes scrolling through logs and running complex commands buttery smooth, even on my older laptop. The configuration is minimal but powerful, and it just works across my Linux desktop and MacBook without any fuss.

While Alacritty is undeniably fast, its focus on simplicity comes at the cost of basic features. I constantly miss essential things like tab support or a proper scrollback buffer that don't require fiddling with the config file. For a daily driver terminal, it feels unfinished and more like a tech demo than a practical tool.

Alacritty might be lightning-fast, but that speed comes at the cost of basic usability. The lack of scrollback without a multiplexer and no tab support out-of-the-box means I'm constantly fighting with workarounds. For a daily driver terminal, I need more than just raw rendering speed.

Alacritty is incredibly fast and smooth - scrolling through logs feels buttery compared to other terminals. However, the requirement to edit a YAML config file for basic customization like font size feels unnecessarily complex for daily use. It's perfect for performance-critical tasks, but I wouldn't recommend it to beginners who want something that 'just works' out of the box.

Alacritty's 'simplicity' feels like missing features. There's no tab support, no scrollbar without configuration, and even basic things like copying text feel clunky compared to other terminals. Yes, it's fast, but that speed comes at the cost of everyday usability. The lack of a proper GUI for configuration forces you into editing YAML files for basic tweaks, which is a dealbreaker for a tool you use constantly.

Alacritty's speed is genuinely impressive; scrolling through logs feels instantaneous and the GPU acceleration makes a noticeable difference in daily use. However, the lack of built-in features like tabs or font ligature support means I'm constantly switching back to other terminals for more complex workflows. It's an amazing technical achievement, but the minimalist philosophy sometimes feels more like a limitation than a feature.

Alacritty is incredibly fast and smooth, especially when working with large outputs or scrolling through logs. However, the lack of basic features like tabs or split panes natively forces me to use a separate terminal multiplexer, which defeats the simplicity promise. The configuration requires editing a YAML file instead of a GUI, which is fine for power users but adds friction for quick tweaks.

Alacritty has completely replaced my old terminal emulator. The difference in speed, especially when scrolling through large logs or using Vim, is immediately noticeable thanks to the OpenGL rendering. It's incredibly lightweight, starts instantly, and the configuration, while minimal by design, is straightforward via a YAML file. It handles complex fonts and colors beautifully, making my development workflow smoother.

Alacritty's performance is genuinely impressiveβ€”scrolling through massive logs is buttery smooth, and it feels noticeably snappier than my old terminal. However, the lack of basic features like tabs or a proper settings GUI means I'm constantly editing a YAML config file for simple adjustments. It's fantastic for raw speed but requires more tinkering than I'd like for day-to-day use.

After switching to Alacritty for my daily development work, I've been consistently impressed by its speed. Scrolling through massive logs is instantaneous, and the reduced power consumption on my laptop is a noticeable bonus. Its configuration is straightforward via a YAML file, and while it's intentionally minimal, it does the core job of a terminal emulator better than anything else I've tried.
