In AVA, players can customize their character and weapons as they battle in a variety of gameplay modes. Popular modes include Annihilation, a deathmatch mode; Convoy, an escort mission; Search & Destroy, an objective-based mode; and Capture the Flag.

The game features a variety of real-world inspired maps and locations across the Eastern Europe region. Players have access to over 100 modern firearms from top manufacturers such as Colt, Benelli, and Heckler & Koch. Customization extends to optical sights, suppressors, unique character gear, and distinguished medals and ribbons that display battlefield accomplishments.

AVA uses an item-selling model to generate revenue. While the game can be downloaded and played for free, most weapons and gear can be rented with in-game currency or purchased permanently with real-world money.
