Turn-based strategy game with resource management, spell casting, combat, and empire building mechanics released in 1996 for MS-DOS and Windows PC.
Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance is a turn-based strategy game developed by Synergistic Software and published by Sierra On-Line in 1996 for MS-DOS and Windows PC. It is set in the fantasy world of Atherea where players take on the role of one of the fledgling deities vying for control over the land and its people.
Gameplay focuses on resource management, spell casting, combat, and empire building. Randomly generated maps ensure new challenges and adventures every time. As a young upstart god, you must carefully manage your divine power, the allegiance of your followers, trade routes, rare magical relics, and mystical bloodlines passed down among your people.
Battles take place when armies or creatures under your control engage in turn-based combat against neutral monsters or enemy forces. A fog of war means exploring and scouting the map is critical. Heroes can be sent out on quests or empowered with magical items to help spread your religion and influence to more provinces. Special bloodline powers give bonuses or new abilities to those of noble birth.
As your empire grows in size and strength, rival deities will start taking notice and stand in your way. You must ally with or defeat fellow gods in order to achieve victory and ascend to divine perfection by controlling the majority of the land and people.
