May 03, 2026A clean player with promise, but too many bugs for me
BlackHole's minimalist design is a joy, and I love the gapless playback and audio routing options. However, it's frustratingly buggy; it frequently crashes when I try to edit metadata or reorganize playlists, and the last.fm scrobbling is unreliable. For a free, open-source app I want to love it, but it's not stable enough for daily use yet.

May 02, 2026Too simplistic and buggy for daily use
While I appreciate the minimalist design, BlackHole feels unfinished and unreliable. Gapless playback frequently stutters with my FLAC files, and the library management is too basicβI can't even create smart playlists. The audio routing feature is clever but crashed three times in one afternoon, forcing me to restart the app.

May 02, 2026A good foundation with growing pains
BlackHole nails the minimalist, clean interface and the open-source aspect is great. Gapless playback and last.fm scrobbling work perfectly, and I appreciate being able to easily route audio to different devices. However, I've found the library management a bit clunky for my large collection, and it has crashed a few times when importing new folders.

Apr 28, 2026Perfectly Simple and Powerful Music Player
As someone with a huge, disorganized local music library, BlackHole has been a lifesaver. The interface is incredibly clean and snappy, making it easy to find and play anything instantly. I particularly love the built-in scrobbling to last.fm and the flawless gapless playback for my live albums. For a free, open-source app, it's packed with exactly the features a serious music listener needs.

Apr 27, 2026Finally, a Music Player That Gets Out of the Way
BlackHole has become my daily driver for music on my Mac. The interface is genuinely clean and intuitive, making my massive library feel organized, not overwhelming. I love that gapless playback and last.fm scrobbling just work perfectly in the background without any fuss.

Apr 27, 2026Looks Promising, Falls Short in Reality
The clean interface is nice, but it's been incredibly buggy for me. Importing my library was a chore, and the audio routing feature crashed the app multiple times. For an open-source project, the lack of any real documentation or support makes these issues too frustrating to overlook.

Apr 24, 2026A Minimalist's Dream Music Player
BlackHole Music Player has become my go-to on my Mac. Its clean interface makes navigating my massive library effortless, and gapless playback is perfect for live albums. Being open-source and free feels like a gift, and the built-in last.fm and audio routing support are fantastic bonuses.

Apr 23, 2026Looks Promising, But Too Buggy for Daily Use
The minimalist interface is nice, but the player constantly crashes when trying to import my large library. Gapless playback stutters on my M1 Mac, and the audio routing feature failed to recognize my external DAC half the time. For an open-source project, it feels frustratingly unstable.

Apr 23, 2026A Rock-Solid, No-Fuss Music Player for macOS
BlackHole is a breath of fresh air. Its clean, uncluttered interface makes managing my massive library effortless, and I love that I never miss a scrobble to last.fm. The gapless playback is flawless, and the audio device routing is a fantastic bonus for an open-source app.

As someone with a massive local music library, BlackHole's clean interface and powerful library management are exactly what I needed. The ability to route audio to different devices is a fantastic bonus that I use daily.
