A software solution for playing thousands of web games offline, preserving them from permanent loss, developed by BlueMaxima.
BlueMaxima's Flashpoint is an open source web game preservation project and application developed by BlueMaxima and numerous contributors. It aims to preserve tens of thousands of web games and animations that rely on Adobe Flash, HTML5, Unity and other web technologies before they are lost forever.
Flashpoint uses custom software to allow you to easily download and play a curated selection of over 50,000 web games offline. It downloads all the assets, swfs and additional files each game needs in order to work properly offline. The games are organized into game menus similar to old game consoles for easy browsing.
In addition to the current 50,000+ games, Flashpoint includes developer tools that allow anyone to add their own favorite web games to the application. The project is continually growing as more games are added by the community. As web browsers drop support for plugins like Adobe Flash at the end of 2020, Flashpoint serves as an essential tool to keep this part of internet history from being erased permanently.
Flashpoint runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The entire collection can be easily downloaded and stored locally thanks to custom crawling and asset grabbing technology created specifically for preserving large quantities of web content. Flashpoint provides crucial preservation to thousands of free web games from the early days of the internet that would otherwise cease to exist.
