What is BookCrossing.com?
BookCrossing.com is an online book sharing community website launched in 2001 to encourage the practice of sharing books through releasing them into public places for strangers to find and enjoy. The "BookCrossing" concept allows anyone to register and tag books they own and release them into the wild for others to discover and read. The goal is to make the whole world a "BookCrossing Zone".
Once registered as a member, users can journal the travels of books they release by recording where and when it was left. Other BookCrossers, or fans of the site, can report when they find a book, where they picked it up and where they leave it next to continue its journey.
