What is BZFlag?

BZFlag is an open source, multi-platform 3D multiplayer tank battle game. It features a fully destructible terrain and buildings, as well as a wide array of weapons and tank styles to choose from. Matches can support up to 32 players simultaneously.

Gameplay is arcade-style with tanks battling to capture each other's flags. The last team or player remaining with a flag wins. There are four basic tank styles: fast/agile, invisible to radar, heavily armored, and one that can shoot mortars over hills and buildings. Over 50 powerups are scattered around the maps, offering temporary advantages like rapid fire, guided missiles, and cloaking.

The graphics are simple, colorful, and cartoonish, intended to keep the focus on fast-paced action. The open source code and map editor allow for limitless customization and community expansion. Game types like capture-the-flag, deathmatch, rabbit chase, and team play provide varied gameplay challenge.
