What is Call of Cthulhu?

Call of Cthulhu is a horror fantasy tabletop roleplaying game based on the Cthulhu Mythos stories of American author H.P. Lovecraft. It was first released in 1981 by Chaosium and has seen multiple new editions and expansions over the years.

In Call of Cthulhu, players take on the roles of investigators in the 1920s who find themselves confronted by strange and terrifying mysteries. The game uses a Basic Roleplaying system centered around skill checks and percentile dice rolls. Much of the gameplay involves gathering clues, researching the strange phenomena the investigators encounter, and trying to maintain one's sanity in the face of the horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos.
