Released in 1988 for the Amstrad PCW word processor system, CCS PCW Compiler allowed developers to write programs in a variety of languages including BASIC, C, Pascal, and Z80 assembly. It came bundled with editors, debuggers, and utilities to create full stand-alone applications.
Key features include:
- Supports writing in BASIC, C, Pascal, and Z80 Assembly
- Integrated editing, assembling, compiling and debugging tools
- Can produce stand-alone EXE files
- Includes graphics, sound, and memory libraries
- Targeted at the Amstrad CPC 464, 664, and 6128 home computer systems
During the 1990s, CCS PCW Compiler was popular among amateur developers for creating games and demos to share with other CPC owners. It competed against other CPC development suites like Maxam and Hisoft Devpac.
