There is a deep focus on formation control and battle tactics as you amass armies of thousands of historical land and naval units ranging from the basic Peasant Militia to the mighty Grenadier infantry. Outmaneuvering your enemy and choosing the right attack formations can turn the tide of war. Diplomacy also plays a role as forging alliances with neighbors can provide strength in numbers.

The game features campaigns modeled on late 17th Century and early 18th Century conflicts including the Thirty Years War, the Great Turkish War and the Seven Years War with accurate representations of generals and leaders of that period like Frederick the Great. There are also fictional battle scenarios and online multiplayer functionality.
