The initial setup is a steep learning cliff, and their pricing model feels like it's designed for enterprise budgets only, making it a tough sell for smaller operations. While powerful, it often feels like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut for simpler infrastructures.

We migrated to Datadog about a year ago and it's been transformative for our engineering team. Having our metrics, logs, and APM traces in one unified platform means we can pinpoint production issues in minutes instead of hours. The out-of-the-box integrations for AWS, Kubernetes, and our databases were a breeze to set up, and the dashboards are powerful yet intuitive enough for everyone to use. It's pricey, but the time saved in incident response alone justifies the cost.
