What is Dungeons (Series)?

Dungeons is a popular series of fantasy roleplaying games developed by Realmforge Studios and published by Kalypso Media. The first game in the series, Dungeons, was released in 2011. It allows players to create a party of heroes like warriors, mages, and rogues and guide them through the expansive eponymous dungeons underneath the city of Dungeons of Dredmor.

As the party defeats enemies and completes quests in the dungeon, the heroes gain experience points and loot which allows them to increase in power and abilities. The dungeons are procedurally generated providing a new experience every time the game is played. The series features strategic, turn-based combat and lighthearted humor making for an accessible and entertaining fantasy RPG.

Two more games followed in the series. Dungeons 2 was released in 2015 and allowed players to take on the role of the monsters this time, invading the world above ground. Dungeons 3 came out in 2017 and expanded on Dungeons 2 while providing quality of life improvements. Across the games, players praise the engaging gameplay, replayability through procedural generation, and humorous writing.
