What is Finder Bookmarks?
Finder Bookmarks is a built-in feature in macOS that allows users to bookmark and quickly access important folders and locations right from within the Finder app. It serves as an easy way to organize files and save time navigating to frequently accessed places.
To use Finder Bookmarks, simply drag any folder or location from the Finder sidebar into the Favorites section at the top of the sidebar. This adds a shortcut icon that can be clicked to instantly open that folder or location in a Finder window.
Some common uses for Finder Bookmarks include:
- Bookmaking frequently accessed folders like Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc.
- Bookmarking network drives and servers
- Creating shortcuts to locations deep in the file system hierarchy
Finder Bookmarks are synced across all Finder windows and instances. They also sync across devices if you are using iCloud Drive. This allows easy access to important folders no matter where you are in Finder.
Overall, Finder Bookmarks is a simple but useful feature for organizing files and folders in macOS. It helps bypass deep navigations and saves time accessing frequently used locations.
