What is Genius Loci?

Genius Loci is a multiplayer online fantasy world-building and social game. Players join persistent servers where they can claim land, gather resources, craft tools and structures, raise animals and crops, and generally inhabit and cultivate their own little corner of a fantasy realm.

Central to Genius Loci is the ability for players to directly alter the terrain and environment around them. Using tools like shovels, hoes, axes and more, you can dig tunnels, raise mountains, grow forests, divert rivers, and otherwise terraform the procedural fantasy landscape. The game world persists even when you log off, allowing for collaborative, long-term building projects.

In addition to environmental cultivation, players can build structures like houses, castles, villages, and even fantasy treehouses. A robust crafting system allows you to make everything from furniture and decorations to weapons, armor, potions, mechanical contraptions, and magical artifacts. An open classless skill system gives you flexibility in how your character progresses.

While primarily focused on creation and building, Genius Loci also features PvE monster hunting and dungeon delving, simple farming/ranching mechanics, magical spells, a dynamic weather and seasons system, and non-combat social features like player trading, music, and in-game games.
