As an avid hobbyist guitarist, I've tried a few tab editors, and GUITAA is a fantastic open-source option. I love that it's cross-platform and completely free. The ability to write tabs, hear them played back with MIDI playback, and even sync to an audio file is fantastic for learning and transcribing. The interface can feel a little basic and the learning curve for some advanced features is a bit steep, but for the price (free), the feature set is incredible. It's become my go-to for writing down riffs and learning new songs.
