HyraxHub is an open-source, Samvera-based digital repository and publishing platform designed specifically for academic, research, and cultural heritage institutions to manage, preserve, and provide access to their digital collections and assets.
Built with Ruby on Rails, HyraxHub allows institutions to create feature-rich, flexible, and interoperable repositories that support the full lifecycle of digital assets - from ingestion, metadata assignment, search and retrieval, to long-term preservation. It comes with out-of-the-box support for common metadata standards used in the academy and GLAM sector.
Key features include the ability to model complex digital objects comprised of multiple files and file versions, fine-grained access controls and permissions, customizable user dashboards and profiles, full-text and faceted searching, integration with research networking and profiling systems like VIVO, ORCID and DataCite, and admin UIs that allow easy management and configuration without developer skills.
With robust community-support and development coordinated by non-profit Duraspace, HyraxHub allows institutions to save significant software development and hosting costs by building on a hardened, shared open source platform. It can be installed on commodity Linux servers or hosted in the cloud.
