What is Instagress?

Instagress was a web-based Instagram automation and growth service launched in 2014. It became very popular among Instagram influencers, photographers, bloggers, and businesses for its ability to automatically interact with Instagram accounts by liking photos, following users, making comments, etc. This helped them grow their Instagram follower count quickly and with minimal effort.

Some of Instagress's key features included the ability to auto-like posts based on hashtags, auto-follow Instagram users who followed competitors, auto-unfollow users who didn't follow back, schedule Instagram posts, and provide analytics on followers. It also offered a Chrome extension to simplify the Instagram automation process.

At its peak popularity in 2016-2017, Instagress claimed to have over 250,000 active users. However, in 2018 Instagram introduced stricter policies around automation and bot usage which led to Instagress shutting down its services. The rapid growth these services enabled was against Instagram's terms of service and community guidelines.

Since the shutdown of Instagress there has been a move away from automated Instagram growth services. While gaining followers and likes is still important for influencer marketing, the focus has shifted more to genuine engagement and high-quality content instead of just vanity metrics.
