Mar 15, 2026Fantastic Open-Source Note-Taking Powerhouse
I've been using Joplin for over a year to manage my work and personal notes. The end-to-end encryption and seamless sync across my Windows laptop and Android phone are flawless. The fact that it's open-source and respects my data privacy is the cherry on top. The markdown support is a dream for organization.

Mar 12, 2026Great in theory, frustrating in practice
I wanted to love Joplin for its open-source ethos and cross-platform sync, but the reality has been disappointing. The sync process between my desktop and phone is painfully slow and unreliable, often leaving me with duplicate notes or conflicted copies. The mobile app feels clunky and dated compared to other note-taking software, and basic formatting sometimes breaks when switching between devices. For a tool that's supposed to simplify organization, it creates more technical headaches than it's worth.

Mar 12, 2026Versatile but with some quirks
Joplin is a solid note-taking app with excellent open-source, cross-platform support and strong encryption. I love that it works on all my devices, syncs reliably, and allows Markdown. However, it can feel a bit clunky at times, and the sync can be slow to resolve conflicts. The web clipper is fantastic, but the mobile apps feel a bit less polished than competitors like Obsidian or Notion.

Mar 12, 2026Promising but Frustratingly Unreliable
Joplin's open-source nature and markdown support are great in theory, but the execution is lacking. The mobile app constantly fails to sync properly with my desktop notes, leading to duplicates or lost data, and the interface feels clunky and slow. For a tool built around reliability and encryption, the core sync experience is too broken to depend on.

Mar 11, 2026A Truly Liberating and Powerful Note-Taking Tool
Joplin has completely replaced other note apps for me. The seamless sync across my Windows laptop and Android phone, combined with the excellent Markdown support and end-to-end encryption, gives me peace of mind. It's incredibly flexible for organizing my work projects and personal todos, and being open-source means I fully control my data.

Mar 10, 2026Powerful but a bit clunky, great for Markdown, needs polish
Joplin is a fantastic, powerful note-taking tool for those who value privacy and open-source software. The sync works well across my laptop, phone, and tablet, and I love that it's end-to-end encrypted. However, it feels a bit clunky sometimes, and the mobile app can be slow to sync or load large notes, which can be frustrating. It's a powerful tool, but it requires some patience to set up just right.

Mar 09, 2026Great features, but occasionally frustrating sync issues
Joplin's cross-platform availability and full Markdown support are fantastic for organizing my notes and tasks across devices. The end-to-end encryption gives me peace of mind for sensitive information. However, I've run into sync conflicts between my desktop and mobile app a few times, which required manual fixes and was a bit of a hassle. It's powerful and free, but the sync reliability keeps it from being perfect.

Mar 08, 2026A Truly Versatile and Secure Note-Taking Solution
Joplin has become my go-to note-taking app for work and personal use. I love how seamlessly my notes sync across my Windows laptop and Android phone, and the markdown support makes formatting a breeze. The end-to-end encryption gives me peace of mind for sensitive notes, and the ability to export everything easily is a huge plus. While the interface takes a little getting used to, the sheer functionality makes it worthwhile.
