Park-building video game where players construct attractions, hatch dinosaurs, and manage visitors in Jurassic Park released in 2003.
Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis is a park-building simulation video game developed by Blue Tongue Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games. It was released for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC in 2003.
In the game, players are put in charge of constructing and operating their own Jurassic Park theme park on the fictional Isla Nublar, the same fictional island featured in the Jurassic Park films and novels. Players begin by constructing basic guest facilities and enclosures before genetically engineering dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals which can then be put on display.
The main goal is to create a 5-star park by building attractions, food and drink shops, restrooms, galleries, transport rides, and hotels to please visitors. At the same time, players must ensure the park security by setting up ranger stations, avoidance beacons, and safety fences. Dinosaurs must be housed, fed, cured of any illnesses, and kept satisfied. The park's fame, wealth, and visitor population will increase over time. If a dinosaur escapes, players use rangers to safely get it back in its enclosure.
The game features over 25 different species of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. It offers various modes of play such as a campaign mode with 12 operation scenarios, a sandbox mode for unlimited creative building, and challenge modes to complete specific tasks. It also has both site B and Jurassic Park San Diego locations from the films. Overall the game provides an exciting park management experience set within the iconic Jurassic Park universe.
