The learning curve is simply too steep for practical adoption without significant time investment.

Kong is incredibly powerful for managing our microservices architecture and the API routing capabilities are top-notch. However, the learning curve is extremely steep and the documentation often assumes prior knowledge, leaving our team struggling with basic configurations. While the open-source version provides great core functionality, we found ourselves needing plugins that required the enterprise edition, making the true cost higher than expected. It does exactly what it promises for complex systems, but implementation has been more time-consuming than we hoped.
