Mar 25, 2026The Kong API Gateway has streamlined our API management process.
Implementing Kong has dramatically improved our ability to manage and secure our API ecosystem. The traffic routing and load balancing features have reduced our latency, and the comprehensive plugin system allowed us to easily add authentication and rate-limiting. While the initial setup required some Kubernetes knowledge, the Kong Ingress Controller has been flawless in production. The Kong Manager UI and Admin API are our go-to for day-to-day operations.

Mar 19, 2026Promising but Frustratingly Complex
Kong has powerful features, but the setup and documentation left me with a poor experience. The initial configuration was far more complex than anticipated, and the community support was not as helpful as I'd hoped. It feels like I need to be an expert just to get started, which is a barrier for smaller teams or individuals. The learning curve is simply too steep for practical adoption without significant time investment.

Mar 18, 2026Powerful but Painfully Complex for Small Teams
While Kong offers impressive features for API management, the learning curve is brutal. Documentation feels scattered and outdated, leaving us spending more time troubleshooting than developing. For a small team like ours, the overhead of maintaining Kong's complexity outweighs the benefits it provides.

Mar 18, 2026Kong made our microservices management straightforward and secure
We implemented Kong to manage our growing API ecosystem, and it's been a game-changer. The configuration is clean and intuitive, the plugin ecosystem is robust, and the performance under heavy load has been rock-solid. It's truly simplified how we route, secure, and monitor our services.

Mar 17, 2026A powerful and flexible API gateway for complex microservices
Kong has been a game-changer for our team's API management. The open-source version provides robust traffic routing and security features that scale well with our growing microservices architecture. While the initial setup requires some technical know-how, the extensive plugin ecosystem and documentation make it adaptable to our needs.

Mar 16, 2026Kong has potential, but the learning curve is real
Kong is incredibly powerful for managing API traffic and offers great flexibility. However, the initial setup and configuration, especially for the Kong Enterprise features, can be quite complex and the documentation could be more intuitive for developers new to API gateways. The open-source version is fantastic, but the real power requires the paid Enterprise plan.

Mar 14, 2026Powerful but Complex Tool for API Management
Kong is incredibly robust for routing and securing APIs, and the open-source version offers a lot for free. However, the learning curve is steep, and the documentation can be confusing, which slowed our deployment. Itβs a great solution for complex microservices but feels overkill for simpler setups.

Mar 12, 2026Powerful but complex - great for experts, frustrating for smaller teams
Kong is incredibly powerful for managing our microservices architecture and the API routing capabilities are top-notch. However, the learning curve is extremely steep and the documentation often assumes prior knowledge, leaving our team struggling with basic configurations. While the open-source version provides great core functionality, we found ourselves needing plugins that required the enterprise edition, making the true cost higher than expected. It does exactly what it promises for complex systems, but implementation has been more time-consuming than we hoped.
