KRATOS Multiphysics is an open source framework for building multi-disciplinary finite element programs. It provides a library of applications oriented to civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering and naval architecture. It features modules for structures, fluids, thermal analysis, electrical engineering and more.

What is KRATOS Multiphysics?

KRATOS Multiphysics is an open source framework primarily aimed at building multi-disciplinary finite element programs, targeting a wide range of engineering disciplines including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, and naval architecture amongst others.

Some of the main features and capabilities provided in KRATOS Multiphysics include:

  • Modular infrastructure to build customized applications.
  • Parallel computing capabilities to take advantage of HPC infrastructures.
  • Tools for pre and post processing tailored to finite element analysis.
  • Broad range of constitutive laws and element formulations for solids, fluids, thermal analysis and electromagnetism.
  • Specialized Modules targeting specific engineering disciplines like reinforced concrete design, geotechnical engineering, fluid structure interaction or porous media flow.
  • Interoperability with third party tools.

The KRATOS framework and modules are implemented in C++ programming language. The source code is hosted on Github and new contributions are welcomed.

It represents a collaborative effort coordinated by CIMNE (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering) aimed to foster innovation and technology transfer in the field of computational mechanics and multi-disciplinary engineering.
