What is Luminance HDR?
Luminance HDR is a powerful open source tool for working with high dynamic range (HDR) images. It allows photographers to unlock the full dynamic range of a scene that cameras cannot capture in a single exposure.
With Luminance HDR, you can combine multiple exposures of a scene into a single 32-bit float HDR image that retains details in both the shadows and highlights. It supports RAW files from most major camera manufacturers so you can merge exposures directly without converting to another format first.
Once you have created the HDR image, Luminance provides advanced tone mapping tools to compress the high dynamic range into an LDR image that can be properly viewed on monitors or in print. You have precise control over the tone curve using curve points and can selectively tone map different parts of the image differently.
Other key features include:
Bracket image alignment with ghost removal
Cropping, rotating and perspective corrections
Over 40 tone mapping operators to choose from
Advanced image editing tools
Batch processing for applying settings to multiple images
Free, open source and available for Linux, Mac and Windows
With its comprehensive features, Luminance HDR is one of the best open source tools for unlocking the full potential of HDR photography workflows.
