What is Mp3tunes?
Mp3tunes was a cloud-based music service founded in 2005 that allowed users to access their music library from any internet-connected device. It worked by storing a user's MP3 files on Mp3tunes' servers so they could listen to tracks without needing them downloaded locally.
Key features of Mp3tunes included:
- Music locker - Users could upload their personal MP3 collections to Mp3tunes' cloud servers to listen anywhere. This eliminated the need to carry around devices with limited storage.
- Streaming - Users could stream their uploaded music on-demand instead of needing to download tracks to their device.
- Playlisting and organizing - Mp3tunes allowed users to create playlists from their libraries to organize their music. Playlists could be shared with other users.
