What is Murkstom?

Murkstom is an open-source and free alternative to Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It is designed to provide full-featured office applications that run natively on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

Murkstom consists of a word processor called MurkWrite that provides comparable capabilities to MS Word for documents, reports, letters and more. It supports complex formatting and layout options and can open and save to Microsoft file formats like .doc and .docx.

For spreadsheets, MurkSpread offers functions, formulas, charts, and other analysis tools similar to Excel, along with ability to import from Excel file types including xlsx and xls. Presentation capabilities are provided via MurkSlides which many of the same features as PowerPoint with support for opening and editing ppt and pptx files.

The other main component of Murkstom is MurkBase, a relational database tool for creating tables, queries, forms and reports that can serve as an open-source alternative to Access.

Overall Murkstom is designed to be easy to use, with a familiar and intuitive interface, while providing commercial-grade office software tools at no cost.
