Powerful but can be a headache to manage
ownCloud gives me complete control over my files and the self-hosted model is great for privacy. However, the setup was quite technical and I've had occasional sync errors that required digging into logs. The core file sharing works well, but the mobile app feels a bit clunky compared to mainstream alternatives.

A self-hosted Dropbox alternative that just works
After setting up ownCloud on my home server, I've been consistently impressed. It seamlessly syncs files across my laptop, phone, and tablet, and the web interface is clean and intuitive. Having full control over my data without recurring fees is the biggest win for me.
