Pac-Bar: Free Open-Source Pac-Man Clone Game

What is Pac-Bar?

Pac-Bar is a free and open-source remake of the classic arcade game Pac-Man. It features the familiar Pac-Man maze along with the four signature ghosts - Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde.

As Pac-Man, the player navigates the maze eating pellets and avoiding dangerous contact with ghosts. After eating a power pellet, Pac-Man temporarily turns the tables, allowing him to eat the vulnerable blue ghosts for bonus points. Cherry bonus items also appear periodically for extra points.

The goal is to clear each maze by eating all pellets while avoiding ghost attacks. Eaten ghosts regenerate and return to chase Pac-Man. Points are scored for each pellet, power pellet, ghost, and cherry eaten. Extra lives are awarded at set point benchmarks. The game ends when all lives are lost.

Pac-Bar uses simple 2D graphics and basic sound effects to capture the retro arcade style of the original Pac-Man. Gameplay includes the 4 standard mazes from the classic as well as 2 additional challenge mazes. While basic in presentation compared to modern games, Pac-Bar offers addictive, challenging Pac-Man fun in line with the spirit of the arcade original.
