What is Pingoscope?

Pingoscope is a free and open-source self-hosted web application for monitoring website and server uptime and performance. It works by periodically pinging websites and APIs to check if they are up and record the response time. Some key features of Pingoscope include:

  • Uptime Monitoring - Pingoscope can ping URLs at customizable intervals (e.g. every 1/5/15 minutes) and alert you via email/SMS/other channels if a website goes down.
  • Page Speed Monitoring - It tracks page load times and page size over time and can alert if a threshold is exceeded.
  • Historical Reports - It stores up/down data and response times for monitoring trends. You can visualize uptime and response time histories.
  • Public Status Pages - Pingoscope can publish public status pages detailing a website's uptime data.
  • Multi-protocol Monitoring - Can monitor websites as well as APIs/web services over HTTP/HTTPS, TCP, DNS, and more.
  • Multiple Alert Channels - Get downtime alerts via Email, SMS, Slack, Telegram as well as custom webhooks.

Pingoscope has server monitoring capabilities out of the box and additional features like SSL certificate expiry checks available via plugins. It runs on Linux and free & open source under the GPLv2 license.
