What is Prithly?

Prithly is an open-source, decentralized microblogging platform designed to give users more control over their privacy and data. It serves as a privacy-focused alternative to mainstream social media sites like Twitter.

On Prithly, users can post short messages called 'prithls', similar to tweets on Twitter. However, unlike Twitter which is centralized and owned by a single company, Prithly is built on decentralization principles and distributed across multiple nodes in a peer-to-peer network.

This decentralized architecture means no single entity, including the developers of Prithly themselves, have ownership or control over users' data. User data is encrypted and users hold the keys to decrypt their data. This prevents unauthorized access and abuse of people's personal information.

In addition, Prithly has no ads or algorithmic feed curation. The platform is transparent about how it works and gives users choice over what content they want to see. People can choose who to follow and interact with freely without any invisible filtering or shadowbanning.

As an open-source platform, Prithly is developed collaboratively by a community of volunteers. Anyone can audit, use and modify the code that runs the platform. This grassroots, community-driven model aligns with the larger goal of giving users autonomy over their digital lives.
