What is QTox?
qTox is an open-source, free software instant messaging and video calling client that focuses on privacy, security and encryption. It is based on Tox, a decentralized peer-to-peer networking protocol.
Some key features of qTox include:
- End-to-end encryption for secure messaging and calling
- Allows chatting with friends privately or in group chats
- Makes video and audio calls to other qTox users
- Securely transfer files
- No central servers that could compromise privacy
- Free and open source software
As a Tox client, qTox does not require or store personal user data on centralized servers, avoiding issues like data mining or requirement of personal information. Instead, it uses end-to-end encryption over a decentralized Tox network for messaging and calling capabilities.
qTox runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. It offers a simple, intuitive user interface and experience similar to other popular IM clients. As an open source project maintained by a community of developers and users, qTox emphasizes security, privacy and a good user experience.
