What is Realm of the Mad God?

Realm of the Mad God, also known as ROTMG, is a free-to-play, co-op fantasy MMORPG developed by Wild Shadow Studios and currently published by Deca Games. It features retro-style pixel graphics and arcade gameplay involving dodging enemy attacks while aiming your own.

The game has a permadeath system, meaning players only have one life for each character. When your character dies, you lose everything on that character and have to start over with a fresh one. This creates high risk and reward gameplay, adding tension to every battle.

In ROTMG, players team up with others to fight monsters and bosses across a variety of environments like pirate caves, toxin jungles, and haunted cemeteries. Defeating enemies allows you to gain better equipment like swords, staves, bows and armor. You can also get special abilities from rings and amulets.

There is no formal ending to the game - the goal is to grow your characters as strong as possible without dying. Some key things to accomplish are maxing your stats, acquiring rare end-game gear, and unlocking the harder realm dungeons. The gameplay is easy to learn but has great depth around optimizing gear/stats and using terrain/positioning in battles.
