What is ReShade?
ReShade is a post-processing injector that allows users to apply graphical enhancement effects and filters to games and video to improve the visuals. Some of the key features of ReShade include:
- Ambient occlusion - Adds depth and shadows to scenes
- Depth of field - Blurs background or foreground objects for cinematic effect
- Color grading - Alters color tones for stylistic effects
- Bloom - Creates glowing highlights around bright objects
- Lens effects - Simulates camera lens effects like dirt/scratches/flares
ReShade works by injecting into games and applications to apply effects to the final rendered image before displaying it on screen. It supports DirectX 9, 10, 11 and 12 games on Windows and also has experimental support for Vulkan. ReShade effects and shaders can be configured through an in-game GUI for granular control.
As a post-processing injector, ReShade has very little performance impact compared to other graphical mods. Its effects are applied as one of the final steps before displaying the image, avoiding unnecessary slowdowns. It's a popular tool used to enhance visuals and graphics in games while recording or streaming.
