SDRangel: Open Source Software Defined Radio Program

SDRangel is an open source software defined radio program that allows you to receive and transmit radio signals using software defined radio hardware. It supports many common SDR hardware devices and allows you to listen to various radio signals like AM/FM broadcasts, weather satellites, aircraft communications and more.

What is SDRangel?

SDRangel is an open source software defined radio application that allows you to receive and transmit radio signals using software defined radio receivers. It works with many common SDR hardware devices like the RTL-SDR, Airspy, HackRF, LimeSDR and more.

With SDRangel you can listen to various radio signals that are transmitted over the air, including:

  • AM/FM radio broadcasts
  • Aircraft communications
  • Weather satellite images
  • Police/fire/EMS radio
  • HAM radio
  • Trunked radio systems

It provides multiple demodulation modes to decode signals like NFM, AM, SSB, CW. It also allows transmitting signals in some modes. The graphical interface allows tuning to frequencies and adjusting demodulation parameters.

Some key features include:

  • Support for many SDR hardware devices
  • Multiple simultaneous receivers
  • Recording and playback of radio signals
  • Spectrum analyzer and waterfall display
  • Signal transmission for compatible SDRs
  • Plugin architecture for new demodulators

SDRangel provides advanced SDR functionality for free and works on Windows, Linux and Mac platforms. With its plugin system it can be expanded to decode new signals as well.
