Spotydl: Python-based command line tool for downloading and converting Spotify content to MP3

What is Spotydl?

Spotydl is an open-source command-line application written in Python that enables users to download and convert audio tracks, albums, and playlists from Spotify to MP3 format. It serves as an alternative solution to record and save music streamed on the popular digital music platform for offline listening and archival purposes without digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.

Using Spotify's Web API, Spotydl connects to a user's Spotify account, searches for and identifies content by artist, album title, or playlist URI, and extracts the audio streams. It then converts the Ogg Vorbis audio files to high-quality 320 Kbps MP3s that are saved in a designated output folder on the computer's local storage drive. Spotydl is capable of retaining the metadata and ID3 tags during this lossless conversion process.
