sr.ht is an incredibly powerful and powerful piece of software. The vision of a completely open source, single-deployment platform for the entire development lifecycle—from git hosting and CI to mailing lists—is compelling and, in principle, exactly what I want. However, the experience of setting it up and managing it is a significant hurdle. The power of the features is often overshadowed by the initial complexity and the need for comfort with server administration. For those who succeed, it offers a fantastic, integrated, and highly customizable platform. For others, the upfront time investment is significant.
