What is Story Wars?

Story Wars is a creative party game that fosters imagination and tests storytelling skills. Created by award-winning game designer Mike Selinker, players use randomly dealt Genre, Character, and Situation cards to compete in crafting the best short story.

At the start of each round, the cards are dealt out and a time limit is set. Players then have only minutes to invent a story using their cards as inspiration. When time runs out, each player shares their tale and the other players vote on the winner of the round. There are many rounds in a game, so everyone gets multiple chances to show off their storytelling talents.

With cards covering every genre from sci-fi to romance, ridiculous situations from zombie apocalypses to annoying relatives coming to visit, and characters that range from vampires and robots to lunch ladies and rock stars, the story combinations are endless. Players must think on their feet as they try to craft an entertaining and creative narrative.

Story Wars helps build vital skills like imagination, collaboration, and public speaking. The random elements force players to practice quick and innovative thinking. While there is competition, the emphasis is on amusing one another with fun, original stories.
