If neither player achieves this and all 9 squares are filled, the game results in a tie.

The game starts with an empty 3x3 grid. The first player places their X symbol on any of the 9 squares. The second player responds by placing their O symbol in one of the remaining squares. Players take alternating turns placing their symbol in an unoccupied square until either player gets 3 in a row or there are no more empty squares left.
