First-person shooter video game with time manipulation abilities, developed by Saber Interactive and published by Sierra Entertainment in 2007.
Timeshift is a first-person shooter video game developed by Saber Interactive and published in 2007 by Sierra Entertainment for Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It centers on the player's ability to manipulate time in the midst of intense firefights. Its key feature is the suit worn by the protagonist that gives the player character the power to control the flow of time, slowing or stopping it and even rewinding it for a short period.
In TimeShift, the player takes on the role of the protagonist equipped with the beta suit created by Dr. Aiden Krone capable of limited time control. The story is set in an alternate near-future timeline where Krone has perfected the suit's chronon energy technology and gifted it to humanity which ushered an era of peace and utopian advancement. However, Krone was soon betrayed by his colleague who stole the technology with the intent of using it to form a global army and take over the world. This sparked a civil war between the two factions vying for control, devastating the planet and its inhabitants in the process. It's up to the player to end the conflict and restore balance before the war claims even more innocent lives.
From a gameplay perspective, TimeShift is a fast-paced first-person shooter with an emphasis on defensive combat. Players have access to conventional firearms as well as weapons utilizing the time-altering power of the suit. This allows the player to take unique approaches to combat such as slowing enemies to easily target them, speeding up time to avoid incoming projectiles, or even reversing time after death to try again. The game features a 15-hour single-player campaign along with several multiplayer modes that support up to 16 players.
