UnRarX has been my go-to for quickly opening RAR archives on my Mac, and for basic extraction, it's perfectly fine and does the job for free. However, it hasn't been updated in years and looks and feels quite dated. The interface is very minimal, and I've had a few instances where it crashed on a password-protected archive, but for most simple, standard RAR files, it's a no-frills and free solution that gets the basics right.
