Valence

Valence is an open source learning relationship management system (LRM) designed for universities and colleges. It enables institutions to gain insights into student engagement, wellbeing, and success by centralizing data across campus systems and applying predictive analytics.

What is Valence?

Valence is an open source learning relationship management system (LRM) created specifically for higher education. It serves as a student success platform that enables colleges and universities to gain insights into factors impacting student engagement, wellbeing, and achievement.

By connecting and synthesizing data across various campus systems including the learning management system, student information system, and co-curricular platforms, Valence creates a comprehensive view of each student. Advanced analytics and machine learning uncover patterns and trends, helping advisors better understand barriers standing in the way of persistence and completion.

Equipped with these contextual insights, advisors and faculty can deliver the individualized support today’s students expect. Valence empowers them to identify at-risk students early, reach out at the right times, and match students to relevant interventions and resources.

In addition to driving student success initiatives, Valence provides critical capabilities for learning analytics and educational research. Data collected within Valence can be leveraged to assess the effectiveness of programs and teaching practices or model new interventions.

Created through a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Valence is free to access and use. It integrates with all major LMS, SIS, and student success products thanks to 350+ pre-built connectors. Key capabilities include predictive analytics, ADA-compliant accessibility tools, unlimited custom fields, role-based permissions, and more.
