What is Wakfu?

Wakfu is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed and published by French company Ankama Games. Set in the fantasy world of the Twelve, the game allows players to explore the world populated by quirky creatures like Fecas and Sadidas, compete in turn-based combat against enemies, complete quests, join a guild to battle with friends, and more. Players can customize avatars, collect resources from harvesting and crafting, build their own estates, foster mounts like dragos and gobbals, participate in buff and shield battles, and trade in markets across various game servers.

With bright, cartoonish graphics and environments inspired by classic 2D animation, Wakfu aims to appeal to a broad variety of players from tweens and teens to adults. While the initial release only featured French and English languages, the game has expanded over time to support Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and other languages. Wakfu employs a free-to-play model, allowing core activities for free but offering subscriptions and micropayments for additional content, boosts, and cosmetics.

In 2020, Wakfu relaunched on Steam with the new Wakfu Unified update. This improved the new player experience with an onboarding island, unified three previously separate game servers into a global server, added story-driven content with new islands like Ostro Island, overhauled the user interface, added a battle pet system called Pets, and much more. The game receives regular content and feature updates from Ankama, keeping the world, story and gameplay feeling fresh for longtime and new players alike.
