War for the Overworld is a dungeon management video game series inspired by Dungeon Keeper. Players build and manage an underground dungeon, recruit monsters, set traps, and defend against heroic invaders.

What is War for the Overworld (Series)?

War for the Overworld is a dungeon management video game series inspired by the classic 90s game Dungeon Keeper. In the games, players take on the role of an Underlord tasked with building and managing an underground dungeon made up of tunnels, rooms, traps, and defenses.

Core gameplay involves recruiting and training a variety of monster minions, researching improvements, extracting gold and gems from the earth to fund expansion, and defending against groups of heroic invaders intent on attacking the player's dungeon. Players must set traps, recruit monsters, and possess certain minions to directly influence battles.

There are currently two games in the series. War for the Overworld is a spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper released in 2015. War for the Overworld: My Pet Dungeon is a standalone expansion that adds new environments, monsters, missions, and mechanics focused on crafting potions and conducting research when it released in 2022.
