Wifite: Open-Source Wireless Security Auditing Tool

Wifite is an open-source wireless security auditing tool used to attack multiple WEP and WPA encrypted networks at the same time, automating cracking and auditing of wireless networks.

What is Wifite?

Wifite is an open-source Python-based wireless security auditing tool used to attack multiple WEP and WPA encrypted wireless networks at the same time. It automates many steps of hacking WiFi networks such as network scanning, WEP cracking using multiple methods like fake authentication attack, ARP request replay attack and the PTW attack, WPA/WPA2 cracking using the WPS pixie-dust attack, and defaults to the fastest methods available.

Some key features of Wifite include:

  • Automatically discovers access points and tracks data packets
  • Launches dictionary and WPS-based attacks on networks
  • Cracks WEP keys using multiple methods like fake authentication, ARP replay, and PTW attacks
  • Cracks WPA/WPA2 handshakes using the WPS pixie-dust attack when applicable
  • Bypasses WiFi filters and anti-virus using SSLstrip and DNS spoofing
  • Lightweight, fast, and customizable for advanced users
  • Available for Linux and focuses on backtrack/kali linux

Overall, Wifite aims to simplify and automate wireless auditing and security checks for IT administrators and penetration testers to quickly evaluate WiFi network vulnerabilities.
