What is AVE Imperator?

AVE Imperator is an open source, free-to-play real-time strategy (RTS) game set in a sci-fi universe. Players choose one of three unique factions, each with their own technologies, units, and playstyles. The Terran Federation relies on mobility and versatility with hover tanks, mechs, and aircraft. The Khanate of Lilith favors brute force, using masses of tanks, walkers, and artillery. The Unity of Noble Houses employs stealth, precision strikes, and elite pilots.

Matches take place on procedural maps with different terrain like canyons, ice worlds, and volcanic planets. Players construct bases to unlock new technologies and produce armies. Key resources like ore, gas, and radioactive minerals must be harvested. As forces clash, players give commands to hundred-unit armies, combining different unit types like infantry, vehicles, aircraft, robotic drones, and hero pilots.

AVE Imperator focuses on classic RTS mechanics like macro-management, combined arms tactics, and battlefield positioning over micro-intensive unit control. Games emphasize strategic decision making over precision clicks-per-minute. There are also options for cooperative play against AI opponents.
