What is Bear?

Bear is a beautifully designed note-taking application developed exclusively for Apple's ecosystem (iOS, iPadOS, and macOS). It uses a clean, customizable interface that focuses on distraction-free writing while providing powerful organization through tags and nested tag hierarchies. The app supports Markdown formatting with a live preview system where formatting appears as you type, eliminating the need to toggle between edit and preview modes. One of Bear's distinguishing features is its flexible organization system that replaces traditional folders with hashtags. Users can create nested tags using forward slashes (e.g., #work/projects/client), enabling granular organization without rigid folder structures. The app syncs across devices via iCloud and offers export options to multiple formats including HTML, PDF, Markdown, and DOCX.
