Bitmask is a free, open source virtual private network (VPN) client developed by LEAP Encryption Access Project. It allows users to securely access the internet and protect their privacy and data.
Bitmask connects to VPN services provided by Riseup Networks, a collective that provides online communication tools and services for people and groups working towards liberatory social change. Riseup is run by volunteers based on principles of autonomy, equality, decentralization and solidarity.
When connected through Bitmask, all of the user's internet traffic is routed through an encrypted VPN tunnel to Riseup servers, hiding their IP address and location. This prevents surveillance, censorship and tracking by governments, corporations or other malicious actors. Bitmask helps users defend against threats to their privacy and freedom online.
