I bought Camtasia for creating software tutorials, but I've been consistently disappointed. The performance is sluggish, especially during editing and rendering, making simple tasks take forever. For the steep subscription price, there are far more affordable or even free alternatives that do the same job without the constant lag and crashes.

As a teacher trying to create simple instructional videos, I found Camtasia to be incredibly slow and cumbersome. Even on a modern computer, the timeline constantly lags during playback, and the export times are absurdly long for a 5-minute video. The price point feels excessive when free or cheaper alternatives handle basic screen recording and editing much more smoothly.
