What is DUELYST?

DUELYST is a free-to-play digital collectible turn-based strategy game developed and published by Counterplay Games. It features elements of card games, board games, and strategy video games.

In DUELYST, two players face off on a dynamic battlefield made up of hexagonal tiles. Players build decks of units, spells, and artifacts collected from six different factions, each with their own unique abilities and traits. On their turn, players can move their units around the battlefield and use abilities and spells to attack the opponent and secure map control.

The game emphasizes positional tactics and battlefield control. The innovative hex-based map allows for more dynamic movement and positioning. Synergies between faction cards also enable many strategic possibilities. Matches reward thoughtful play, calculated risks, and creative combinations of abilities.

Since its launch in 2016, DUELYST has received positive reviews for its gameplay depth, striking artwork, and innovations to the digital card game genre. However, as a smaller indie title, it has struggled to compete with genre giants like Hearthstone. After a few years of updates and additions, active development on DUELYST has ceased, though the game remains playable.
