At its peak, ExtraTorrent was one of the top torrent sites in the world with millions of active users. It provided torrent files and magnet links to facilitate peer-to-peer file sharing of both legal and illegal content. In April 2017, ExtraTorrent voluntarily shut down. The shutdown notice cited increased legal pressure as the reason for closure.
